Calf Support
Calf pain when running the 5K?
So I entered a 5k race this past Sunday. Right after the 1 mile mark, my calves started to hurt. (I used to get this when I would run every day, but ever since I took a day off in-between, the pain went away). I'm wondering if it had to do with the fact that I went to an amusement park on Saturday wearing flip-flops, standing in long lines while holding my three year old. I know that flip flops don't generally provide much support. That's the only think I can think of. Also, I do not normally stretch for a run as I only run a 10 minute mile (ie., jog). How do I prevent this in the future? Please help!
I get the same pain as you. I think its important you get enough sleep so your muscles can heal better. Another thing that might help is drinking milk because milk helps build stronger muscles. But i believe that the sleep is probably the most important, so try and get aprox. 9-10+ maybe?
